A three man drive "relay race" is simulated where each player takes it in turn to be the "tackled player", "the halfback" and the "support runner". The three man drive can be used as a relay "race" to add a competitive edge to the drill.
Lots of communication required particularly from the support player who should call "on your left, on your left", etc to help the halfback pop-pass to the correct side. The Tackled player must pin the ball back. Tackled player must spring up quickly to become the halfback at the next cone. Support players must receive the ball when already running at speed so need to time their run and communicate with the halfback.
