DESCRIPTION

1 ball, 20m x 20m grid and 4 Groups.

2 groups of teams line up across the grid facing each other, 8 players each side. On GO the ball carriers team runs towards the other team passing the ball as they run until the end players gets it and passes it to the first player in the team facing them. Repeat the drill with the second team playing the opposite direction

COACHING POINTS

Start at slow pace before speeding up

Not too much distance between players to start with

Good passing and catching techniques

Call for the ball

Stay in your own channel

Pass off left and right hands

Progression

Move faster, more distance between players

Extend channel length and have ball pass one way and back before passing to next team

OFTEN USED WITH...

Pass and follow in a grid:

The first player runs into the grid and then passes square to a player either on their left or right before following their pass. The receiving player then runs into the grid and passes square before following their pass once again.

Pass Invaders:

Split the team into two groups.

The players run to the cone and then pass the ball square before running on to the next cone and pass square. When the players reach the end they have to run back through the middle of the cones.

The practice keeps repeating.

Pass within a channel:

Set up the 10m x 40m Grid as shown.

4 cones and 1 ball per group.

Split the group into teams of three. On the coaches command the players start running up the channel passing between them, once they reach the end they turn around and come back repeating the passing.
