Excellent drills, very detailed videos. Useful site for my U15 boys team.
I coach aged 7 children and I don't know how to teach them how to play a proper hockey match without all of them going for the ball and not staying in their positions. Do I put lines where they are not allowed to pass? or what?
How do you encourage positional play and spreading out on hockey field U9 girls level?
information on 1442 and 11333 systems. I am fairly new to sportplan so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I am from Australia so know the GK-2-3-5 set up well. I would like to possibly employ a GK-4-4-2 / GK -1-3-4-2 set up or a GK-1-3-3-3. What I need is information on How players are set up, Forward press set ups, defencive zone set ups and attacking methods. For a bonus it would be great to know how they set up against a GK-2-3-5 as most of our oposition teams play this or a gk-2-3-3-2 Cheers
Hi all,I've got my level 2 assessment coming up on Sunday and I just wanted to quickly check whether there's a 'recommended' structure to the session plan.Btw, this is a level 2 practical assessment and is with juniors (U14s).One coach has suggested a 3 part approach:1) techniques and skills required2) unopposed 3) opposedThe theme I'm choosing, which is a bit of a generic one, is defending in a channel (as I'm a defender and it's pretty straight forward).I'm not really looking for info on what exactly to include (i.e. theme specific) but rather general structure or whether E.H. have an approved structure to sessions? My session's on Sunday, so a quick reply would be awesome. Thanks,Gary
How can I help my u/12 girls to attack? At the moment they are running beside the opponent but not attacking the players.
I want our team to make our team and hopefully get promoted, however in my opinion player personalities are holding us back such disliking position and certain players wanting to do things that other players are better at.
I am doing A level PE and I need to find a coaching plan that includes a number of drills that get progressively harder. The plan has to be game based, I was thinking of doing one on possession but I cannot find drills that link together and get harder. Please help, Thanks
I find it impossible to find recent full match videos to show to my youngsters especially on those frosty mornings when training is cancelled. I have tried FIH and England Hockey who frankly are woeful at providing coaching support. Can anybody help me source recent full matches. Thanks Mark
I'm playing an important match on Wednesday I was wondering how do I prepare for matches . I was at training with the A team on Friday and learned new things that could be useful is it too late to try it with the team?? Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
Hello, I am a parent of my daughter's U/9 team and have been asked to coach. I have very little experience coaching (I did some in Vanuatu but that's about it). Could anyone recommend some drills to help spread them out on the field so they're not all running around in one big group after the ball? Thanks!
hello everyone.i would like some advice on the following: I coach a mixed u19 and u16 team because i do not have enough players. players always have excuses for training so i can never practice set pieces. I have a strong backline, strong CL and CF but that is it.. none of my players play in a form, i have practiced 2vs1 and passing to a player and receiving again whilst going forward a hundred times... my u16s have very little knowledge of the game and skills. my u19s are more experience.
At a recent junior hockey match, the ref indicated the short corner must be taken from the side of the goal where the infringement took place. This threw the team off as they only practiced taken short corners from the one side.Anybody that can give clarity on whether this is the rule?
I train a school team in India, it is under-16 team. My forwards are good in skills and defenders are good at tackling. But at the last 15 mins of match(35-5-35 mins.), my whole team gets tired and starts making unforced errors. Even skills are as good as other Indian players but when it comes to strength and stamina they lack. Please suggest something that my players are capable fast matches? We play hockey on grass only.
Who can help me to develop a tool to manage the substitutional players during a match? I manage a team of 15 girls of 12-14 years old with different levels of hockey experience. To arrange the substitutes is quite complicated and I am searching for a helpful tool.
My U13 Girls play really well in the first half but drop of badly in the second half - this has caused us too many draws. How do I get consistency for the whole game?
Hi, I´m just looking for new ideas for the first training of the season, any fun ideas so everybody can learn each others names, including the coach %3A)???? age%3A around 11/12 years old. Cheers!
Hi,I perhaps naively, expected to have most of our team from last year carry over and only have a few new comers to integrate and get up to speed with the rest. However meeting the team at our first practice last night i find I have five players still at school from last year and the rest all new comers, most of whom had not held a hockey stick at all till practice. This being only my second season coaching (year 9 to year 13 boys) has left me feeling a little blindsided, and feeling quite unsure how to prepare practices that target both groups of boys. Do i lump them both groups together, keep them separate? What drills/exercises to best bring the new comers up to speed.I don't want to neglect either group, keep practice worthwhile for the experienced boys, but also bringing the new comers up to a level were they can mix in with the others and learn organically from them while practicing as a team. Hi just wondering the best way to teach drag flicks to young ladies. I've tried a following videos by make players and am not getting results. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
need info on training the goal keeper.
I really struggle to make practice fun and useful for the GKs. My attention is naturally focussed on the outfield players, meaning most of the time I simply have drills finishing with a shot on goal to keep the GK involved. Pretty boring for them. Any ideas how I can involve them more? Thanks, Charlie
