Sportplan rugby has played a large role in my team's love for the game!
Dear all, with Tag rugby being the in sport, what moves havent been thought of which could lead too a form of cheating? like hand off is not allowed but pushing the ball towards the on coming tackler is, what about protending too tick and then side stepping etc.. what other ones are there so we can be aware of what too look for when reffing games?
I'm trying to work out what the best age is to introduce contact to children (tackling, mauling, rucking). I think learning early how to handle contact safely is very important, but at the same time, I want to make sure it is not too early. Are there any universal guidelines, or does it vary from national union to national union?
I coach under 8's and next season they will start contact. When am I allowed to start teaching them tackling skills? I sit january during their under 8 season or at the start of the under 9 season ?
In under 9s the line-out is uncontested... can the player receiving the ball simply turn and run straight through the opposition's line or does he have to pass the ball / set up a maul ?
which skills can you use to make a safe tackle without bearing the risk of injuring your shoulder?
I am putting together a skills matrix of suggested/expected skills a child should have as they progress through the Continuum. eg, by under 7 a player should be able to do ABC, by under 8 they should be able to do DEF, by under 9 they should be able to do XYZ, etc. I want to break this down into novice, core and advanced, as well as positional (as they get older) Does anyone know of a format that exists like this already somewhere?
I am currently coaching under8's rugby in England which is 7 a side tag. Next year we are going into 9 a side contact and we wanted to start coaching our players the techniques of tackling and carrying the ball into contact towards the end of this season to prepare them for next season. We didnt carry this out as we were unsure what the RFU directive was regarding preparing for the step up. Some people say they were training their players and some people were not. Does anyone know the official line from the RFU whether or not you can train in contact or not
RFU - proposed Mini's rule changes%3A All - just a quick straw poll%3A Have any CLUBS that you are aware of officially come out in SUPPORT of these changes? If not, have they come out officially rejecting the proposed changes, or are they adopting a "wait and see" attitude? Regards Stephe
We've just started U10 contested line-outs - can the jumpers move before the ball is thrown (between 2 and 7m obviously)? Continuum doesn't mention not moving but one of our coaches insists they should be static.
What is the rule in Mini Festivals or games for U7s carrying the ball in one hand. Should they be penalised?
Number 8 pick ups from scrum at U13?
New Rules of Play at U10 - England Hi has anybody had to adopt the NROP for U10 after playing teh continuum rules at U9. or Has anybody playing continuum rules had to change to NROP at festivals? Be interested in hearing any feedback, views and comments on the impact of the NROP Cheers Andrew
Does anyone have a definitive answer to this question%3A can I coach basic tackling skills to U8s now, in preparation for next season, without falling foul of any RFU rules or regulations? Hugo
I think a pass has to be made from the back of a maul or ruck but I am not clear about the rules at the scrum .
How did the Modern Olympics originally begin and why are they so culturally significant today?
