Sportplan rugby has played a large role in my team's love for the game!
I coach under 8's and next season they will start contact. When am I allowed to start teaching them tackling skills? I sit january during their under 8 season or at the start of the under 9 season ?
Hi, I’m coaching under 9s next year which involves tackling, mauls, rucks etc. I’m after advise on what to coach first and the amount of time spent on each area. Added to this I’ve somehow become the lead coach after a couple of coaches stepped down (feeling a little under pressure!) Would anybody be willing to share any sessions so I can plan the first month or so. Cheers
Our H.S. boys are flat at the beginning of the game and seem to take 10 minutes to start playing efficiently. We have tried various pregame warmups to correct this but to no avail. I look forward to your suggestions as to the best way to correct this issue.

I am having trouble getting my girls to work as a team. Any advice?
Hi. I coach a B level under 12 team at school with very mixed abilities. I cant get my boys to get up in a defensive line together or even come up in defense. Any drill very much appreciated.
I would just like to enquire about something with regards to contact. My u/14 team is playing their first match in 4 weeks time. I was told not to start with contact as it may cause some injuries. I was told to wait at till 2 weeks left before I start with contact sessions. However I don't feel that 4 weeks needless to say 2 weeks, is enough time to prepare my players for the physical demands of a game. Now my question is: How long before the first match should I start contact sessions?
I have just started helping our head coach with under12's team. He wants to retire and has put me forward to be head coach next season. I am a little worried on how i should aproach training with the boys, going to a full 15 a side team on a full pitch. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I am teaching a PE class basics of rugby and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on sequencing, I have them for 5 days and only 50 minutes per day. I was going to start with basic rules and ball handling and back lines, then rucking, then scrums, tackling (these kids love full contact), then on the last day hopefully play either sevens or unopposed. I am hoping to eventually start a club or team at this school. Suggestions?
How to begin coaching when the sport is not popular and many of player candidates are not familiar with rugby ? What is key of initiation ? How to start from white paper ?
Does anyone have a definitive answer to this question%3A can I coach basic tackling skills to U8s now, in preparation for next season, without falling foul of any RFU rules or regulations? Hugo
My team takes 15min to really start playing... what should I do? These are high school boys that have never played the sport before. After a few games, they play really well in the 2nd half but by that time we are down 2 or 3 tries. Is it a warmup issue? Nerves? Any ideas?
I just finished my collegiate rugby career. I feel inspired I would love to coach rugby to women in countries that have a lower popularity of women's rugby. How do I get started?
I have started an under 10s team up, and I would say about 8 from the 13 children I have , did not play rugby until about 6 months ago. Of these players, there seems to be a lot of potential, as we are scoring tries against teams, that very rarely concede tries.the problem I got with them, is that we are very poor at organising our selves in defense when the opposition has the ball, which does result in us conceding quite a few tries. We have some very good tacklers in the team. Can anyone offer some ideas on how I can get them to organise themselves? Thanks . Chris.
