Netball: Movement Warm-Up

Improve GK movement in and around the goal. Familiarise the footwork required in various common movements such as forward, backwards and across the goal.

• Two GK's working starts at the front of the square in front of main goal.
• GK's retreats then gets around cone directly behind them and into line for a shot.
• GK's then switch to opposite cones and repeat the drill.
• Begin into hands, then shot progressions out of hands and finally off the floor.

2 GK's at the same time.

GK's advance forward to the front set of cones and then across laterally to the next cone.

As soon as the GK gets to the cone they receive a shot from the server.

• Without the ball goalkeeper step into low dive position and get used to landing the dive safely.
• Show technique for landing ball close to the body in low dive
• GK starts behind the cones- Forward round the cones and back for a shot close to body

Note:

• Lower the body position in readiness for the low shot
• Lower the hands and make step with leading foot pointing out at around 45'
• Push of with nearest foot and attack the dive with nearest hand first

• Volley into hands making goalkeeper dive catching ball
• Followed by low shot into corner

• Try and get up to feet if you can
• If not go into low dive from crouch
• Do not turn back to get up
