Moving Goal Game small match p...

Two equal teams play with one ball in half the court. Two players who are on neither team hold an elastic cord (or a spare bib/piece of material) to form a moving goal. These two players must run around the pitch, keeping the goal open (stretched out). The aim of the game for the other players is to score a goal into this moving goal through use of a bounce pass.

Blue 6 takes the free throw and passes the ball into the path of blue 3 who starts in the middle of the court. Player 3 then runs with the ball towards white 3 to set up a back screen whilst player 6 runs across the court to set up a second screen in front of player 4. As blue 3 crosses in front of player 2 they play a short pass for player 2 to run onto and shoot from, between the two screening players.

Set up two equal lines of players on both side of the baseline and two defenders just beyond the half way line. All baseline players have a ball each. The move starts with a one-two pass from the player on the baseline to the keeper. Upon playing the pass the players should run forward and receive the pass from the keeper on the run. After this players dribble the ball up court at speed. Once the attackers cross the half way line the defenders are allowed to put pressure on the attacker. Drill continues until a shot/interception has been made.

Playing inside a restricted area (inside the 6 or 9 metre line) two small teams try and keep possession of the ball for as long as possible. The defending side should have more players than the attacking side.

Blue players 3 and 6 position themselves between two defenders to make it difficult for them to be picked up. The ball starts with blue player 1 who passes the ball outside the circle until it reaches player 4. Once blue player 4 has the ball attacking player number 6 should move to set up a front screen, blocking white player 3's movement. This then paves the way for blue player 3 to run into the gap and receive the pass from player 4 to have a shot on goal.

Blue players 1, 2 and 4 pass the ball in the following order: Blue1- Blue2- Blue4- Blue2 Just before blue2 receives the pass from blue4 the two players closest to the 6m line (blue3 and blue6) should set screens on their defenders (white2 and white3). These screens will prevent the two defenders from moving to block the shot from blue2.

Same as in <em>Back and Forth 1</em> player 1 starts the drill from the right wing and passes to player 2. Player 2 then passes to player 3 who passes to player 4. After they've passed the ball player 2 moves forward, in behind the defence to the right wing position. To finish the move player 4 passes the ball back to player 3 who then feeds the ball to the white player (pivot player) who then turns and shoots at goal.

Set up 5 equal groups of players, one group on each sideline and 3 in the middle. Have several balls with both groups of sideline players. Also have two additional defenders (red players) stationed just inside the 9 meter line. Player 1 starts the drill with a pass to player 2. Player 2 runs out to meet the pass and then passes it on to player 3 who passes to player 4. Player 1 must chase the passes across the court to support the two red defenders as they press out to put pressure on the pass When player 4 receives the ball they should look for the shot on goal. The drill then starts from the other side - going from left to right.

Players in the middle rejoin the back of their own lines after receiving the pass/shooting. Sideline players join the back of the line on the opposite side of the court after blocking the shot.

Teams score a point for every 10 passes they make without losing the ball.Game 2:Alternatively you can play this game with goals. If they are unable to find space for the shot they must pass to player 3 who repeats the process. Drill continues in this way (blue1 - blue2 - blue3 - blue1...)until an opening for the shot has been created.

Player set up a line on both sides of the court, with one player standing in the middle. The first player starts with the ball and throws it to the central player and runs towards them. When they are within an arm's reach of the player they should land in front of them with wide feet and take the ball from their outstretched arm. As the player takes the ball they side step in the direction of where the ball is being held, step inside and then out again before zipping past the middle player and passing to the waiting player.
